Fine Handmade Violins and Repairs

This beautiful Hill violin bow with golden tip and gold mounted frog, had an unproperly made bow head repair. It had a veneer of plywood inserted in a too shallow slot cutted through the bow head. The right way of repairing is always discussible. That's why I would like to describe the process of my repair work:

  1. Regluing the separated pieces
  2. Removing the golden tip
  3. Recutting a deeper slot and removeing the old fitted veneer
  4. Fitting a new veneer of pernambuco
  5. Fitting the tip back 6. Retouching and polishing
